A stroke took away his independence. Help Piotrek get his life back.

Piotrek is 48 years old. He’s a kind, sensitive person, well liked by everyone who knows him. He has always been active, worked hard, and supported his elderly parents. Now, he needs help himself.

Piotrek was born with a heart defect that, over time, required surgery. It was expected to be a routine procedure. Unfortunately, serious complications arose during the operation, including an infection of the wound and bloodstream.

Piotrek spent many weeks in hospital, connected to machines, going through immense pain and complications. Just as he was preparing to come home, the worst happened – he suffered a stroke. There was a moment when we truly thought we might lose him.

Piotrek survived, showing incredible strength and will to live. But the stroke left serious damage – paralysis on the right side of his body and loss of speech. Right now he can’t function independently.

His only chance of recovery is intensive, long-term rehabilitation. In cases like this, time is critical, and starting rehabilitation early can make the difference between regaining independence and long-term disability.

Due to the complexity of his condition, Piotrek requires specialised care in a dedicated rehabilitation centre. We have found a centre willing to accept him as soon as possible, but the cost is very high. The estimated cost of rehabilitation, medical equipment, and ongoing medication is €50,000 in the first year.
