Only a surgery abroad can save Pola! We are running out of time❗️

We are asking for your help at the most difficult time of our lives as we are fighting for our daughter’s life. Pola suffers from arteriovenous malformation which is a rare and life-threatening condition.

The first epileptic seizure in 2021 revealed a bomb in our daughter’s body. In her head, the doctors found malformed, bursting blood vessels which cannot be removed due to their vast number and localisation. The only possible method of treatment is glue embolisation.

The results of the disease may cause another haemorrhage. In recent years, Pola has undergone 10 arterial embolisations. Unfortunately in 2023, after one of the procedures, Pola suddenly experienced motor aphasia that manifests symptoms similar to a stroke. She had to learn to speak and write again which had a significant impact on her well-being.

After a couple of months our daughter overcame the crisis as she started recovering and planning her education. However, after the primary school final exam on 15 May 2024, Pola experienced an intraventricular haemorrhage. She had been immediately brought to hospital where the doctors fought to save her. Unfortunately, soon, there was another haemorrhage – on 30 May when she was to be discharged from hospital and despite good CT scan results...

Pola spent two months in hospital, underwent trephination and ventricular drain, which were to reduce the intracranial pressure. However, despite the life-saving surgeries and other procedures in August 2024 and October 2024, the arterial malformation could not be embolised and the fight was not over.

Now, there is the most important surgery ahead of Pola – our last hope – its aim is to close venous malformation. It is a very difficult procedure for which our daughter was qualified in a specialist clinic in Essen. The surgery is scheduled for 10 February but time is of the essence here!

A malformation that is not embolised creates new vessels and may cause the next haemorrhage with all its consequences. We were promised by the clinic that Pola will be admitted for the surgery before 10 February if there is a free bed for her because we should not wait. Our daughter may be summoned any moment now!

Each day brings a risk of a new haemorrhage. We believe that this surgery will allow Pola to end the fight with this disease. But we are not able to afford it on our own – the treatment that has lasted for a couple of years was very costly and for this reason, we are asking for your help!
