Fundraiser description
When cancer appeared in my life, everything changed. I had to give up my job in the Netherlands and come back to Poland where I was going to fight for my life. This fight is still ongoing and although it is very difficult, I do not intend to give up.
It all started with a chronic, persistent cough. Different medications were not working, and multiple medical appointments did not provide any clear answers.
Finally, I went to one of the hospitals in Poznań. Although I hoped for everything to end soon, I had not received any diagnosis. Instead of answers, there were many doubts and questions in my head.
Then, a CT scan revealed the truth. In my body, just beside my heart, there was a big tumour. It has been probably growing for a couple of years and it is inoperable due to its localisation. Any procedure of this type could result in my death. It was very difficult for me to accept the truth.
The results of further tests were like another blow from fate. The tumour turned to be malignant and metastatic. Additionally – it probably caused the damage to the C7 vertebral body with pathological fracture and penetration of the bone fragments from the posterior part of the vertebral body into the spinal canal.
The doctors could not do anything. No one was able to help. Hope came back to me in Warsaw. I had been seen there a team of oncologists who are doing everything they can to save my life.
I have finished the third chemotherapy cycle and the collar around my neck is not very comfortable but I feel I can cope with anything. I do not know how many cycles of chemotherapy are ahead of me. The tumour has to shrink and we have to do everything possible in order for it to happen. I am taking part in an innovative drug program and it helps me to think that everything is going to be fine.
I have to fight. I have to do it for others. The people close to me, my family and my friends support me so much. Unfortunately, everything generates huge costs and I had to stop working in the Netherlands. If you are ready to help me, I will be grateful for any donation. You can also pledge 1.5% of tax. Thank you for every kind of support.
