How much pain and suffering can a child bear? Let’s save Samuel!

Dear Donors, 

We are desperate… The suffering of our little boy is unbearable! Samuel experiences over a dozen seizures a day! His spastic body causes a constant, unimaginable pain…

We are running out of funds for physical therapy, which is the only solution that brings relief to our child. We are begging everyone for help and support, and at the same time, thank you for your previous donations.

There is a long journey ahead of us… Samuel needs many hours of physical therapy, other therapies, and equipment, that could improve his life, even in the slightest way…

Time plays an important role for us! Unfortunately, the fundraising is proceeding too slow…

We are doing our best, but without the help of kind hearts, we won’t be able to protect Samuel from suffering. Thank you for your previous support, but again we are asking you to stay with us in this unbelievably difficult fight!

Our son was born 4 years ago. Until the last moment, we believed that he was going to be healthy… That didn’t happen, though. Samuel had many dangerous birth defects. The list of diagnoses that we found out about was endless—heart defect, hydrocephalus, and cerebral palsy. After a while, more illnesses came out, like epilepsy, and renal insufficiency. 

In his short life, Samuel suffered more than an adult. When we look into his sad, frightened eyes, we know, that we need to do everything to help him…

Our son was fighting for life already in the first days of his life. He was born in the 38th week of pregnancy, with perinatal asphyxia caused by inadequate flow of oxygen. Three days later, he experienced numerous intraventricular haemorrhages and seizures. He underwent countless procedures, including 9 serious head surgeries. In consequence, Samuel deals with quadriplegia, inoperable heart defect, hydrocephalus, microcephaly, increased muscle tone, and epilepsy. He cannot see due to optic nerve atrophy. The intracerebral haemorrhage that occurred three days after he was born, caused post haemorrhagic hydrocephalus.

Samuel already had a third shunt put in his brain, which causes headaches and a bad mood. 

Cerebral palsy brings constant pain of different severity.  His muscle tone is either decreased or increased. He cannot sit or stand. Our son suffers from painful contractions, which can be eased only through massages. 

Due to all the illnesses, Samuel cannot experience his childhood as much as healthy children. He doesn’t get to know the world or discover it, cannot play or run around on the playground, laugh, or enjoy watching cartoons.  Samuel deals with illnesses and pain every single day. Our little son requires our attention 24 hours a day. My husband and I are constantly by his side, we feed him, change his diapers, and provide him with physical therapy. We take care of him day and night…

Due to intensive treatment and physical therapy, we spent the first years of his life in a hospital. It was a difficult time, that cannot be erased from our memory—it brought great suffering, bitter tears, and overwhelming anxiety about what tomorrow was going to bring. 

Although 4 years have already passed, Samuel still frequently visits a hospital. His health condition is being constantly checked.  Intensive physical therapy and treatment are very crucial since his overall development is significantly delayed…

Samuel cannot hold up his head, sit, or walk. And although we wish he called us “Mom, Dad”, our son hasn't said a word yet.

Samuel’s life is a constant struggle with the consequences of disease and pain. We are trying to offer him at least a substitute for normal life and reduce his suffering. 

Our son’s diseases are incurable. However, we could alleviate his pain thanks to expensive medications, and daily physical therapy. 

The monthly cost of treatment and therapy for Samuel exceeds our budget.  Four years of battle for his health depleted all our savings. It is cruel, that because of lack of funds, our child has to suffer on a daily basis. That is why we are begging you for help.
