SIR NICOLAS and the Dragon: a SMAll Story of a Big Boy
This little book shows that miracles do happen. A bunch of strangers teamed up to help a boy they had never met. It’s a fun and educational story, and an act of kindness. Buying this book you have joined the fellowship of good people helping two-year-old Nicolas Karelus fight the dragon.
The dragon’s name is SMA (Spinal Muscle Atrophy). It’s a stealthy killer that takes babies away from their parents in the most cruel of ways. First, they grow weaker and weaker. Then, their hands and legs gradually lose motor power and become floppy. When the breathing muscles become impaired and eventually fail, the heart can keep beating only thanks to a respirator. This disease is very rare, its odds are those of being struck by lightning.
Nicolas’s life is in the hands of good people. The drug he needs to fight his dragon costs PLN 9 million (over 2 million EUR) and is non-refundable. All proceeds from the sale of this book go towards purchasing the world’s most expensive drug that will save our big boy’s life.
