Until recently, my husband was full of life, passion, and dreams for the future. A keen sportsman and a loving father to our two little girls, Sławek faced every challenge with a smile. He was the rock of our family – the one who always found a way forward, no matter the problem.

Everything changed in a single, tragic moment. Sławek suffered a devastating motorcycle accident that led to a severe brain injury, altering our lives forever. He is now in the ICU – completely paralyzed, dependent on a ventilator, and only able to communicate through eye movement. This young, vibrant man - once full of life - has become a prisoner in his own body. Though fully conscious, he is trapped inside his own body.

Our daughters ask every day, „When will Daddy come home?”. They don’t understand why the father, who used to play tag with them and read bedtime stories, now lies in a hospital bed, unable to move. As his wife, I try to stay strong for our girls – but I still have to fight back tears every time I see him like this. Since the accident, my days are split between visits to the ICU and trying to recreate a sense of normality at home for Ada and Marcelka.

The doctors didn’t believe Sławek would survive… But he’s proving them wrong. Despite immense suffering, he continues to fight – celebrating even the smallest signs of progress. He has already overcome several life-threatening infections, showing extraordinary strength and determination. His resilience surprises everyone. The medical team believes that his neurological condition can improve, but only with access to intensive, specialized neurorehabilitation. Sadly, the cost of such care is not covered by Poland’s National Health Fund (NFZ), leaving us to face this challenge alone.

The cost of one year of intensive rehabilitation that could help Sławek recover is approximately 600 000 PLN. Sadly, our family cannot afford this on our own. That’s why we are reaching out and asking for your help. Without the necessary funds, Sławek will be transferred to a long-term care facility where he will receive only basic care with no chance for meaningful recovery. Your support could give him the opportunity to fight for a better future.

Despite his helplessness, Sławek fights every single day to return to his family. His eyes – the only part of his body he can move – speak volumes. They reflect determination and hope, but also the fear of a future without progress. He is fully aware of his condition, and yet he refuses to give up.

Those who knew Sławek before the accident remember him as a man of unwavering determination – someone who never gave up on his goals. Now, his greatest goal is to return to his family and reclaim his life. Together, we can help him achieve that.
