A surgery abroad can save Monika’s hand function! Will you help?

Účel sbírky: Operace uvolnění zápěstí a prstů v Madridu

Je tak těžké požádat o pomoc, ale nemám jinou možnost... Jmenuji se Monika a prošla jsem vážnou nehodu, která mi úplně změnila život. Moje pravá ruka – ta, kterou jsem psala, vařila, vytvářela krásné šperky, zapínala knoflíky svých dětí – v podstatě jenom je a nic víc. Zlomená, podstoupila operaci, potýkala se s infekcí a sepsí a snášela dlouhý boj o přežití. Bohužel i přes veškerou snahu zůstala téměř zcela nehybná...

Na podzim roku 2023 jsem měla dopravní nehodu, která měla za následek vážné zranění mého zápěstí a ruky. Člunkovitá kost byla zlomena, kůže byla značně poškozena a šlachy na hřbetu ruky byly natržené. Pak přišlo to nejhorší – bakteriální infekce, která málem skončila amputací!

Dlouhé týdny doktoři bojovali o mou ruku. Byla tam antibiotika, četné očistné procedury, první transplantace kůže a svalů, kterou moje tělo odmítlo, a pak další... Ruka byla zachráněna, ale její funkčnost byla téměř úplně ztracena...

Prošla jsem měsícami rehabilitace. Každý den jsem cvičila, snažila se znovu hýbat prsty, ohýbat zápěstí. Bohužel i přes enormní úsilí jsou výsledky zanedbatelné. Zápěstí je zcela ztuhlé a zajištěné ve špatné poloze a prsty se sotva ohýbají.

Po mnoha ortopedických konzultacích v Polsku jsem slyšela jednu věc – lékaři jsou bezradní. Nicméně naděje se objevila. MUDr. Francisco Pinal, špičkový chirurg rukou, souhlasil, že mě bude léčit. Během mé první konzultace ve Španělsku mi předložil operační plán, který by mohl obnovit funkci mé ruky. Léčba bude dvoufázová – nejprve uvolnění zápěstí a prstů, poté transplantace šlach.

Bohužel náklady na tyto operace jsou enormní... Navíc jsou zde výdaje na další, intenzivní rehabilitaci, cestu do Madridu a pobyt.

To je pro mě nedosažitelná suma, ale s vaší pomocí mohu zabojovat a zase být fit! Prosím, každý dar, i ten nejmenší, mě přibližuje k mému cíli. Z celého srdce vám děkuji za veškerou vaši pomoc a milá slova!

🇬🇧 It is very difficult to ask for help but I have no other choice. My name is Monika and I had been in a serious accident which completely changed my life. My right hand – the one I used when writing, cooking, creating beautiful jewellery and buttoning my children’s clothes – today simply only exists. Broken, after surgery, infection and sepsis – it came a long way to fight for survival. Unfortunately, despite all the efforts, it is completely immobile.

In Autumn 2023, I was in a traffic accident and as a result, my wrist and hand were seriously injured. The scaphoid bone was broken, skin severely damaged and tendons on the back of my hand torn. Then, the worst came – bacterial infection that almost led to amputation!

For many weeks, the doctors had been fighting for my hand. There were antibiotics, debridement procedures, the first skin and muscle transplant that was rejected by my body… The hand was saved but its functionality is almost completely gone...

I went through months of rehabilitation. I have been doing exercises every day and attempted to move my fingers or flex the wrist. Unfortunately, despite my tremendous effort, there were no significant results. The wrist is stiff and blocked in an improper position, the fingers barely flex.

After many orthopaedic consultations in Poland, I only heard that the doctors cannot do anything. However, there is hope. Doctor Francisco Pinal, who is a world renowned hand surgeon, agreed to provide treatment for me. During the first consultation in Spain, he presented my with a surgery plan that could restore my hand function. The treatment will be divided into two stages – first, the wrist will be released, then tendons released.

Unfortunately, the costs of these surgeries are enormous... There are also other expenses, like further, intensive rehabilitation, travel to Madrid and accommodation.

I am not able to afford this on my own but with your help, I can fight to regain my hand function! Please, each donation, even the smallest one, takes me closer to the goal. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any help and kind word!
