First a heart attack, then a stroke, and…peripheral artery disease and leg AMPUTATION ❗️ All I dream about is independence. Help!

I never would have imagined asking for help. For most of my life, I was independent, had a job, and tried to solve problems on my own. Today, however, without help from good-hearted people like you, I cannot fight for a better future.

Several years ago, my life changed forever. I had a heart attack, followed by a stroke that resulted in right hemiplegia. I started a long and exhausting rehabilitation. Thanks to my determination, hard work, and support from kind people, I partially regained my physical abilities. I started to believe the worst was over. 

Unfortunately, soon after, another enemy stood in my way - an advanced peripheral artery disease (a condition in which narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to legs) that took my fitness away bit by bit each day. First, I required amputation of the two toes and part of the foot. Despite pain and limited mobility, I didn’t give up. I learnt how to use the crutches and tried to live the same life as before. Unfortunately, the disease was progressing.

I developed necrosis in both legs. Despite the doctors’ best efforts to save them, the damage to the arteries was too extensive. I needed a life-saving upper leg amputation. In one moment, I lost something that most of us take for granted - the ability to walk.

Today, I use a wheelchair, and the activities that were once easy to perform have become a challenge. Preparing a meal, cleaning the house, or going out requires enormous effort or support from third parties. I still haven’t lost hope, though.

My biggest dream is to be fitted for prostheses. In my case, it will be a very tough, expensive, and long-term process. Although there is no guarantee of success, I want to take that chance and fight to regain the ability to stand, move, and perform basic activities without constantly asking for help.

I don’t dream big. I just want to be able to prepare a meal, do the laundry, the dishes, or move around the house freely. It’s normal for most people, but for me, it has become a purpose…

I require expensive, long-term rehabilitation, medications, hygienic products, and necessary medical equipment, which I cannot afford. This is why I am asking you for help.
