Fundraiser description
I have been working in Poland for over 25 years – as a carer, cleaning woman and nanny. I accept every kind of work, even at nights, in companies and clinics. I have never expected sympathy. But today I am helpless. My only son, Ivan, is slowly dying and I cannot be with him.
Ivan is 30 years old. He is a doctor – a dentist, surgeon, implantologist. He has always been unique – capable, focused, honest. He was quickly noticed during his studies. Professors started opening doors for him and patients trusted him. He loved his job. He was really good at it.
A couple of years ago he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) – a chronic, degenerative neurological condition. Currently, he cannot function without help. He experiences paralyses, difficulties walking, face ticks, and speech and balance problems. He often spends all days lying down – too weak to even speak.
He has not been able to work in his profession for several years. There are eight focal areas of inflammation in his brain. When he was diagnosed, he almost immediately had to give up his job as his condition had been continuously getting worse. He is bedridden. He spends most of the time at home under his wife’s care. He only takes palliative medication because he does not have money to buy the proper ones that could stop the progress of the disease.

As if it was not enough, Ivan lives near Kiev, in a place that is attacked by the Russian forces every day. He has his survival backpack packed but in his condition, it is not possible to go down to a bomb shelter. Each alarm is a risk – not only due to explosions but also due to his disease as his condition worsens in stressful situations.
I used to be close to my son... And now I cannot be with him when he needs me the most. I cannot give him water when he is not able to reach for the glass. I cannot hold his hand when he is lying still and not speaking. He is alone – and I, his mother, am hundreds kilometres away. War has deprived us of so much, even of the possibility to be together in sickness. I send everything I earn to my son, so he can buy medicines. It is the only way I can help him. But I cannot do this any longer. I need your help.
Ivan needs treatment in a peaceful place where proper medications and therapy are available, preferably outside Ukraine – in other country where he could feel safe. Please, help me. Each donation provides real help for my son. Each share takes us closer to our goal. Thank you for every kind of support.
