Campaign description

I am Malgorzata, a single mother of Wanda. Wanda is a thirteen-year-old girl struggling with a deadly disease. Cystic fibrosis is a chronic, relentlessly progressive genetic condition for which until recently there were no effective drugs. The essence of the disease is that the body produces a very dense secretion, which clogs - among other things - the bronchi, ducts of the pancreas and liver, leading to chronic inflammation and organ degradation. Even worse, the sticky discharge in her bronchi which can not be effectively removed is a great breeding ground for microorganisms. It easily comes to infections with opportunistic pathogens, that is, those that in a healthy body do not cause infection.

In addition to cystic fibrosis, Wanda has numerous concomitant diseases. She suffers from allergic and invasive aspergillosis, chronic sinusitis, bronchial asthma. As a result of her disease a part of her lungs does not work, she also has a damaged liver.

Wanda Sulewska

Since birth, Wanda has been taking inhalations and medication several times a day. Currently, she takes about 30 tablets every day. She needs to perform 8 inhalations and undergo a minimum of three chest physiotherapy treatments per day. It requires a lot of self-denial and humility. Unfortunately, these treatments only counteract the symptoms of the disease, they do not fight its cause.

For many years, her cystic fibrosis was "lurking" and made itself known occasionally. Of course, Wanda regularly visited the hospital, repeatedly underwent aggressive antibiotic therapy due to pneumonia, and had many sinus puncture procedures. For years she has been under regular pulmonological, ENT and gastroenterological check-up.

In the last year, the detrimental progression of the disease has significantly accelerated. Almost every month she was subjected to intravenous or oral antibiotic therapy or had to receive antifungal therapy or systemic steroid therapy.

Recently, it turned out that Wanda has been attacked by a bacterium that is resistant to almost all antibiotics – MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). Wanda developed frequent cough, shortness of breath, her weight dropped. I CAN'T WATCH THE DISEASE TORTURE MY DAUGHTER, AND EVERY DAY IRREVERSIBLY TAKES AWAY A PART OF MY CHILD!!

The only chance to effectively eradicate this bacterium is intravenous administration of antibiotics of last chance AND the fastest possible implementation of CAUSAL TREATMENT, that is, one that fights the disease at its source. Wanda needs a therapy composed with 2 drugs. These are modern drugs that repair the effects of the genetic mutation, modify the defective protein, and allow the return of normal organ function.

Contrary to many European countries, the treatment with these drugs is NOT refunded by the Polish health care system. The cost of treatment amounts to more than € 23000 per month. To make matters worse, it is a continuous therapy. For the treatment to be effective, Wanda must take these drugs for the rest of her life.

Because of her illness, Wanda never went to school, so she has limited contact with her peers. He is a wonderful and gifted child. Wanda loves to learn, dance, play the piano, loves people and animals. She is a smiling, extremely good, empathetic girl. Her biggest dream is a normal life, she would like to be able to run with her dog, ride horses, meet friends. And most of all she would like to be able to take air full breast.

Wanda Sulewska

I am a doctor by profession. I have always been happy to help others. As much as I can, I try to meet the needs of my patients. Until recently, even after working hours, I was at their disposal. I treat my work as a mission. Now, due to Wanda's deteriorating health, I have reduced my working hours, because I must be with her.

I wholeheartedly ask you for your help. MY CHILD IS WORTH LIVING. SHE HAS TO LIVE LIKE ANY OTHER CHILD.

Therapy with the above-mentioned drugs is what we have been waiting patiently with Wanda for more than 13 years, that is, her whole life. Many cystic fibrosis patients simply did not live to see this opportunity.

Now it is possible to treat her disease, although this treatment is not within the financial reach of the average person and WANDA CAN'T WAIT ANY MORE.

We live in the hope that there will be good hearts, good people who will help to save my daughter.
