Leukemia came in 2022. A dramatic fight began, which is hard to even describe in a few words. I’m September 2022, after almost 2 years of hard treatments, Radzio was very happy to return to school. He missed his friends. Since he got sick in September 2020, he only saw them online while playing together on the computer. Only the last control tests and he will be able to return to systematic learning and maybe even to his beloved football!
Luckily, my son returned to school, and I - his mom - went back to work. I gave up everything to be with my son in the hospital. My husband stayed home with our older daughter, and my mother helped us. Finally, it suppose to be like before …
Only the final tests remained. The deadline was on October 25, 2022.
The doctors noticed something in the cerebrospinal fluid. Detail examinations were performed, after which we heard diagnosis: EARLY RECURRENCE of ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC LEUKEMIA; ISOLATED IN THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM!
NO ONE HAS SEEN SUCH A RARE, DRUG-RESISTANT LEUKEMIA FOR A LONG TIME, NOT ONLY IN POLAND OR ABROAD!!!
Radzio was hospitalized again. Since November 15, 2022 we have been at the Department of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology in Kielce.
This time it was much more difficult, although it’s hard to even imagine, after what Radzio had already done.
Unfortunately, the treatment DID NOT WORK! After almost a month of treatment, there were as many as 66% blasts in the cerebrospinal fluid, although it SHOULD BE CLEAN! CANCER CELLS TURNED OUT TO BE DRUG RESISTANT!
Changing the treatment to even harder. Cancer not only did not stop, but grew stronger!
We consulted with specialists from Poland and abroad. Only the most modern CAR- T Therapy can save Radzio!
Radzio’s relapse is so specific that the National Health Fund does not include it in the reimbursement program. In 4 weeks we have to raise a significant amount of $350.000 US DOLLARS.
From the beginning I was sure that Radzio would recover, I never once thought otherwise. And now that he got sick again, I feel the same way.
