Fundraiser description

Veronica was born with a congenital heart defect. After three open-heart surgeries and multiple cardiac catheterizations, we thought that only a heart transplant will save our daughter’s life. However, to be honest, it is a last resort.

To avoid it, a different procedure should be performed, offered by Swiss cardiac surgeons. That life-saving solution costs over 800,000 Polish zlotys, though…

During the two previous surgeries, some complications occurred. Veronica suffers from their consequences even now. Furthermore, in December 2021, the doctors diagnosed a sternalis muscle in our daughter, a strap-like muscle that is located parallel to the sternum, above the epicardial artery, causing narrowing of the arteries mainly during a cardiac muscle contraction. It causes disturbing chest pains, hand numbness, headaches, and asthma.

Veronica takes on her limitations and burdens very bravely. Unlike her peers, she cannot enjoy her life to the fullest—she must remain cautious. She regularly takes thirteen different medications and supplements. Despite being aware of her disease, she’s also very sensitive. Family gatherings and socializing with her friends give her a boost of energy, as she’s friendly and open-minded.

However, rising health complications take away from her even the joy of having these amazing relationships…

As parents, we refused to give up, and it paid off. We found the doctors from Geneva in Switzerland, who agreed to remove a sternalis muscle from Veronica’s body. It caused her numerous troubles and a lot of tears in the past couple of months. The costs of treatment are enormous. We know that without your support, we won’t be able to deal with that challenge…

We ask you for help from the bottom of our hearts! Any donation will make a difference and bring Veronica closer to the upcoming surgery!

We know that there is a long, difficult journey ahead of us, and after the surgery, our daughter will require a long-time physical therapy. However, from a long-term perspective, we know that we made the right decision, and it will pay off with a secured future for our daughter. We will finally stop worrying that her transplanted heart might stop beating. Instead, it will be stronger and healthier for many, many years to come.
