Rodzinie i bliskim Pani Zdzisławy składamy najszczersze wyrazy współczucia.

Niewykorzystane na leczenie środki zostaną przeznaczone na rzecz Podopiecznych Fundacji Siepomaga.

Fundraiser description

Perhaps if I had been diagnosed sooner when I had my first symptoms, I would be in better health today. I wouldn’t be so scared now that I might die soon and would have more hope.

I have colon cancer that has spread to my liver, lungs and brain. My family is doing everything they can to help me live longer and they are trying to raise money for a very expensive treatment from a clinic in Japan. Please help me pay for my treatment.

Zdzisława Schubert

It all started in August 2017. I wasn’t feeling well but the doctors only treated the symptoms and didn’t perform any tests. Nothing helped and deep down I knew that something was wrong. I begged them to send me to the hospital for more tests.

My first scan there showed I had a cancer and the colonoscopy confirmed it was stage 3 colon cancer. I had my first operation on the 26th of February 2018 but 48 hours later I went into cardiac arrest and the doctors tried to resuscitate me for 10 minutes. I was lucky and they succeeded in saving my life at the time. Unfortunately, my heart was too weak and I was scheduled to have double- bypass surgery which meant that the chemotherapy I was advised to take within 3 months of the surgery on my colon had to be cancelled.

In May 2019 I had a CT scan and it showed that the cancer had spread to my liver and lungs. The doctors decided to start palliative chemotherapy. It was very difficult for me and the 5th session of the treatment affected my muscles so badly I couldn’t even get out of bed. They had to stop it saying I was too weak, and more treatment would kill me. I was getting worse and worse but I tried to focus on getting my strength back so I could carry on with the treatment. Very slowly I started to improve and walk again but then other symptoms showed up. I started to pass out and have headaches. We all thought (including the doctors) that it was another side effect of the chemotherapy treatment but in January this year I was re- admitted to hospital after becoming paralyzed along the right side of my body.

Further tomography showed new tumors in my brain and I was transferred to another hospital straight away. The doctors also found out I had swelling in my brain and I had 3 sessions of radiotherapy treatment. I will only find out in couple of weeks how successful it was. I also started chemotherapy treatment again but it is just to gain more time. The only chance for me to survive and fully heal is to destroy all the cancer cells throughout my body without killing the healthy ones. My daughter found the clinic in Japan and after discussing it with my oncologist we decided to give it a go. We need to order medications from the clinic but they are very expensive. The treatment has a high success rate and will take a minimum of 6 months.

It will cost 130.000 Polish Zloty or approximately £26 000 and the doctors have planned the treatment based on my health history, test results (blood, CT scans, etc) and the severity of my cancer.

I am running out of time. I’m begging you, if you can, please help me to raise this money. I’m extremely grateful for any help even if it’s just a little bit. I still have hope that I can beat it. I want to live for my husband, children and my grandchildren. I just want to be with them for as long as I can. They give me the strength every single day to fight this disease despite the fact I wanted to give up so many times.

Thank you all for any help you are able to give at this difficult time for all of us.
