Fundraiser description

No one would have predicted what would happen to our Sparkle… Our lives changed into a nightmare in just four weeks.

One day Eleonora started to limp. We went to the hospital, where she underwent a leg X-ray. Everything seemed fine. The doctor recommended an abdominal ultrasound made by two other doctors who didn’t notice a tumor which was already 5 cm large at that time…

The next day her leg didn’t hurt, which led us to believe that everything went back to normal.

However, the following night Eleonora woke up with pain in her entire body. Her muscles went stiff! I was terrified! I didn’t know what was wrong with my child!

A moment later, the pain was gone, and when I drove her to the hospital, I was told that our daughter was fine. The symptoms intensified in the next couple of weeks, though.

Eleonora’s limping reappeared. My heart was broken… Every time we went to the hospital, we came back with nothing. Within 19 days, we visited the ER 14 times!

Four weeks after the first symptom, Eleonora developed constipation. She stopped eating and drinking, and every morning she had a fever. We were finally admitted to the hospital.

The doctors took her condition for granted again, and we went home after three days.

I prayed to God for help…

We searched for a solution everywhere. Finally, after weeks of doctor consultations and calling for help, we received one. At that time, our daughter was very weak… The examination results were devastating. Eleonora had a kidney tumor and required an immediate transfer to the pediatric oncology unit. I asked so many questions, but I couldn’t obtain an answer. I was disappointed with the doctors. I knew from the beginning that my child was sick, and they ignored it. The final diagnosis was stage 4 neuroblastoma which spread to bones and bone marrow…

The current treatment includes several stages—chemotherapy and surgery, to name a few.

We were told that the battle with cancer would last for ca. one year. It will be a critical period that will determine if Eleonora survives…

My little girl is so brave! She is so patient with the therapy, which is very painful and exhausting. The only solution to cure cancer is a vaccine that prevents its recurrence. It is only available in a cancer clinic in New York! The treatment is non-reimbursed, so we must pay for it ourselves… Please, help us save our wonderful daughter. Our only hope is you!
