Fundraiser description

Our beloved and long-awaited little ray of sunshine Lucius was born on 13th April 2021.

We were overwhelmed with joy. Our son made everyone smile from the start—he rarely cried, and he was laughing hard and interacting with everybody around.

Due to my previous miscarriages, we were hands-on parents. Lucius underwent numerous tests and examinations and had doctors’ appointments with neurologists, speech therapists, pediatricians, and physical therapists… We checked everything!

Unfortunately, it turned out that was not enough…

When Lucius turned two months old, he started physical therapy due to lower muscle tension in his abdomen, which caused muscle enlargement. That is when he underwent a control ultrasound which proved everything was fine and calmed us down…

After a one-year-long physical therapy, we decided to end it. However, our therapist suggested our son have another ultrasound since Lucius’ abdomen was still swollen, despite the exercises… We took her advice and went to the hospital.

During the first examination of Lucius, the doctor recognized a condition called intestinal loop, a mild disorder in his opinion, and recommended we make an appointment with a pediatric radiologist. It put us off guard. We were sure everything would be fine.

Unfortunately, that did not happen.

On 2nd May 2022, it was a judgement day for us. We will remember this date for the rest of our lives. We had a doctor’s appointment at 8 p.m. During the examination, she was silent, but we saw it in her eyes— she must have discovered something. After 20 minutes, which seemed endless, she stood up and urged us to go to the hospital immediately. Our son probably developed a liver tumor. We went weak in the knees.

We felt like screaming! We felt hopeless and lost. We could not believe that our son was that sick! He was too tiny to suffer… Too small to die…

After the diagnosis, everything happened so fast…

Lucius was admitted to the clinic in Wroclaw and had an ultrasound, MRI, puncture, and other numerous exhausting examinations… The doctors tried to calm us down by saying that the diagnosis was not ready yet and that it might be nothing serious. However, a mother always knows best…

A couple of days later, we were called to the doctor’s surgery. My intuition was right. We heard the diagnosis—stage 4 neuroblastoma with liver, pancreas, bones, and blood metastases… and that our baby boy might not survive cancer due to its severity. I would not wish it on my worst enemy… The pain we felt that day was so strong that we could not speak nor take a breath. My only wish was to run out of the surgery and cuddle my son.

We could not come to terms with the diagnosis long after we found out about it.

Days were passing by, and we still lived in a nightmare. We knew that we could not give up, though.

After the initial shock, we took action…

We desperately started to search for treatment in the dedicated clinics and hospitals in Europe, and we finally found a light at the end of the tunnel—a clinic in Barcelona. We contacted its doctor, professor Mora, who is a world-renowned expert in treating neuroblastoma, and in his opinion, our Lucius can be cured!

Unfortunately, to allow the treatment, we need to collect a huge amount of money—ca. 1,500,000 Polish zlotys! On top of that, the time is running out… The life of our child is at stake, though!

We are asking everyone to support our fundraiser and save our little boy! He is only 1 year old and his whole life is in front of him! I haven’t even managed to teach him how to eat by himself, ride a bike, or play hide and seek…

I cannot let him die before his 2nd birthday…

Please, help us!
