We used to have a normal, peaceful life. It wasn’t always great, but who has a perfect life? In the worst nightmare, we would not expect in just a couple of minutes, our lives would change forever. My husband used to be a physically and professionally active person. However, one evening in November 2021 changed everything…

Andrzej fainted and was rushed to the hospital. He was diagnosed with an ischemic stroke.

He stayed in the hospital for three weeks, which seemed endless. During that time, we found out that he also developed heart failure and pneumonia. The doctors were pessimistic, but he fought to survive for us. 

When he came back home, he was dependent on others. The stroke had caused right-sided hemiparesis and aphasia. My husband started physical therapy and speech therapy which has already brought some improvement. He uses a tripod walker indoors, although he still requires a wheelchair for longer distances. His right arm is numb, and he still cannot speak. He needs to acquire basic abilities from the start…

My heart breaks when I think about that unfortunate moment in the past and the dreadful fate that forced Andrzej to go down an exhausting path to recovery. I know that he won’t surrender that easily, though! He is strong enough to overcome difficulties. I am going to support him as much as possible, but I need your help. The rehabilitation costs a lot, and I cannot afford it.
