Fundraiser description

My name is Ewa, and I’ve been fighting to improve my health and mobility my whole life. I was a preterm baby, born in the seventh month. As a result, I suffered from spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, which I’ve been struggling with for over forty years.

It’s a miracle I can even walk. On the other hand, it wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for my hard work and my parents’ incredible devotion, who, for many years, provided me with the best rehabilitation so that my life would be as normal as possible.

Cerebral palsy does not disappear with age. Moreover, it gets worse. Years of abnormal gait patterns contributed to joint damage, muscle stiffness, and increased contractures. The fear of losing independence and becoming wheelchair-bound is worse than the physical pain I feel every single day.

To make the “miracle” of walking last, I require daily, intense rehabilitation that helps me function better and maintain independence, at least partially. Unfortunately, it is expensive…

Regular physical therapy isn’t covered by insurance. Thanks to my dad’s hard work, I was able to pay for it; unfortunately, he passed away in 2019. I cannot surrender, though, and allow my efforts and his sacrifice to go to waste.

There is no magic pill for CP. Thankfully, new therapies are being developed - I have recently benefited from exoskeleton therapy, which restored my motor function, improved balance, and decreased knee joint contractures… Although I wish I had continued the therapy, I cannot afford it…

I am asking you from the bottom of my heart to help me finance rehabilitation and fight for a better tomorrow! It’s my only rescue and hope to gain a little more independence. I believe that with your support I can succeed - I will be grateful for every kind gesture!
