Don't let him suffer any longer! Franio needs help!

Franek is a disabled child. He urgently needs hip and knee surgery, as well as to deal with spasticity. If his present condition sinks, his life will be seriously threatened! The National Health Fund system in Poland does not provide the treatment for such disabled children as Franek. Such a surgery is a huge risk that strongly loads the body. Only one surgery must take place, as Franek might not survive more…

Who is Franek and why is he disabled?

Franek is 6 years old boy. He has loving parents and a younger brother. He is disabled as a result of perinatal hypoxia and diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy. He is a very cheerful child who enjoys life. Unfortunately, his life has been suffering to which he has been accustomed from the day he was born. Contractures and large spasticity wake him up every night. Bones grow, and muscles fall behind due to lack of movement. Franek does not walk, sit or even crawl. He is completely dependent on us.

The birth

Franek was born 6 weeks premature. There were no indications that he could be disabled. At first, the doctors claimed that the delivery would be very quick, but in fact, it took several hours. The medical staff told us to wait. Finally, after a long time, the decision about caesarean section was made. But it was already too late. Franek’s whole body went blue. When we asked the doctors what had happened, they said that it does happen sometimes. Three months later, his health had been bothering us. After taking a head MRI, it turned out that our son was very hypoxic. The diagnosis was: cerebral palsy as a result of perinatal hypoxia.

Today Franek does not walk, sit on his own, or speak, but he is incredibly brave. Every day, during rehabilitation exercises, he fights to make it hurt less. And we also fight for that with him, as long as we have the strength. Currently, Franek needs urgent hip surgery. It is needed to overcome contractures and touch-up the muscles so that his life would not be full of constant suffering anymore. Cerebral palsy causes spasticity and muscle tension. A very shallow acetabulum is unable to keep the bones in place. Surgery and further rehabilitation are necessary!

The pain is unbearable. Every touch causes Franek unimaginable suffering! Are we afraid of surgery? Of course, we are! However, we have no choice, as that might be the only chance for Franek to live without pain. We will be very grateful for each zloty donated, as well as for sharing and forwarding our request.
