Fighting to come back – help Jacek be with his family again!

A couple of months ago, he had endless energy. For almost 30 years, he had been working in a bakery in Stargard. He was working at nights when others were sleeping peacefully – so in the morning people could enjoy fresh baker’s goods. He was always helpful, in good mood, smiling and kind. He was a person living for his family and others.

He dreamt about spending his holidays in France, seeing Provence and the lavender fields. He promised his grandson Tomek that he will take him on an adventure to the forest by the lake – a real adventure, with camp-fire, stories and breakfast with the view on the lake. Suddenly, everything has changed.

One day, he just screamed and then fell down – his aneurysm burst. We went to hospital where the fight for his life started. Reanimation, dramatic surgery and days filled with uncertainty in the ICU. The family was keeping watch by his bed observing a person ,who has just been standing by the bread oven and joking, fighting for each breath.

Thanks to the doctors, Jacek is alive. But the fight for his recovery has just began.
Today, moving a hand or looking at someone is a great effort. Everyday life is a constant work with physiotherapists and speech therapists. The only chance to recover and get back to a normal life is an intensive and very expensive neurological rehabilitation.

Time is running up. Each day without treatment decreases Jacek’s chance of getting back to his normal life. It is a challenge that we cannot rise to on our own – but with you, we can change the possibility into reality.

For us, Jacek is a husband, a grandfather and a friend. A person who was always there for other people – he needs others to be there for him. We dream of hearing his laughter in the kitchen, seeing him holding his grandson by the hand to take him to the lakeside. Each, even the smallest donation, is a step closer to Jacek’s normal living.
