There is a medicine that can save my life.

The oncological medicine that Kasia needs was reimbursed by the National Health Fund until April this year. Unfortunately, the Ministry of Health has taken it off the list. Pertuzumab not only reduces the risk of metastases and relapses, but also prolongs life. It allows you to do what is most important in the fight against cancer - to win and survive! However, the patients have to pay for it themselves. That is why we ask for your help to save Kasia's life!

"I am the best example that diagnostic tests are necessary. Nobody wants to receive the diagnosis that I received, but it still happens sometimes. A simple breast ultrasound scan may have saved my life. It allowed me to discover a change that was deadly dangerous.

Breast cancer. At first I couldn't believe that it’s happening  to me. I lead a healthy lifestyle, I am very active, I am happy and full of joy of life. Many might say I should have never encountered cancer on my way. And, yet...

I am a teacher, but the sense of my life and the greatest passion has always been helping. I have helped many different people and creatures in my life - my students and friends, children in Afghanistan, where I took part in projects of building schools and running English courses. I systematically support WWF, Greenpeace, Avaaz and Amnesty International. And the most important project for me and the biggest dream I managed to fulfil was working with Indo-Chinese tigers. These wonderful creatures stole my heart. I worked as a volunteer, helping to keep them from dying out. I didn't think that one day I would need help myself.

In fact, I am only at the beginning of my fight against cancer. I have received a treatment plan from the doctors and currently I am undergoing chemotherapy. My attending physician told me that there is a medicine which can considerably increase my chances of fighting cancer. It reduces the likelihood of recurrence and metastases, which can increase my chances of defeating cancer quickly and effectively. Unfortunately, Pertuzumab is not reimbursed in cases like mine, although it is a standard in other European countries and introducing it into therapy brings very good results.

The reimbursement for Pertuzumab was revoked in April. I fell ill in June... So I have to pay for the treatment myself. One dose of Pertuzumab costs over 11 thousand zlotys. And now I know that I will not be able to work as a teacher during  chemotherapy because of its side effects and weakening of my immunological system. Any infection can be dangerous for me. That is why, I need to ask for your help. Without support, maybe I won't be able to continue teaching and helping people, I won't be able to travel with those I love, perhaps I won't visit wonderful tigers anymore! Please give me hope that the cancer will only stop me for a moment!"
