I was scared that the disease would come back, but I hoped it wouldn’t…
I am writing to you 5 years after the astrocytoma grade 2-3 diagnosis, complex tumor resection, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, losing physical abilities (spastic paralysis of the left side of my body), other diseases, and rehabilitation… Just as I returned to my peaceful everyday life…
On October 15, 2025, I saw my neurosurgeon for a routine checkup. Usually, during these types of appointments, I would hear that “everything’s OK”, or “well done, Kuba, no signs of cancer!” This time, however, it was different. An ordinary examination showed cancer recurrence, and I required surgery to remove it.

It was performed on October 23, 2025, right after my 35th birthday. The first 24 hours were crucial. After a couple of days, I felt the procedure had been successful, which put me in a good mood. I returned home and waited for the biopsy report. Thanks to the rehabilitation team I had worked with for years, my spasticity and hemiplegia didn’t worsen. Despite my limping and left hemiplegia, I’m happy!
The biopsy results were satisfactory, and my enemy was similar to the one from five years ago.
In December 2025, I had an MRI scan, and a month later, I consulted with my neurosurgeon, who told me I had ANOTHER CANCER RECURRENCE…

The disease is in progress. On February 5, 2026, I had a tumor resection surgery of grade 3-4 glioblastoma multiforme. Although the operation has potentially prolonged my life, it also caused some side effects, like vision loss and worsening of left-sided hemiplegia. I now require daily assistance and use a wheelchair more often.
Although I will soon consult with specialists, I realize that some treatment options are out of reach. Again, I would like to ask you to help me finance rehabilitation, transportation to doctors, cancer treatment, medical nutrition, and hygiene products. My dream is to help my loved ones by taking off the financial burden associated with my treatment, and other difficulties…
Kuba
Fundraiser description
URGENT! Kuba has been diagnosed with glioma, a brain cancer. He and his wife Dorota got married after he had undergone surgery, and was in between cancer treatments… A battle has begun to save his health and life, and we are asking you for support!
“My name is Kuba, I’m 32 years old, and my life changed two years ago - on July 24, 2020, to be exact. My fiancée, Dorota, and I were on our way to my cousin’s wedding. Earlier that day, I noticed that half of my face appeared to droop. Initially, I thought I was coming down with a cold, but I decided to get myself checked the next day, just in case. In the ER’s neurological unit, I learned I probably had a tumor in my head…
The initial diagnosis was later confirmed by the MRI scan and a series of other examinations… I was shocked! How come a young, healthy man like myself could have had cancer? Everything happened so fast… An ordinary examination turned into a devastating diagnosis and a fight for life… I was immediately admitted to the hospital and had an 8-hour-long surgery a couple of days later. I did it! I received a chance to live. Unfortunately, brain surgery is risky. In my case, it resulted in hemiplegia and spasticity.

The tumor biopsy showed a grade 2-3 glioma (grade 4 being the most severe). Several weeks after surgery, I started rehabilitation. I lost control over my body, and I had to learn how to walk again… The next step was a six-week-long stay in the cancer ward, which was a very challenging time for me.
I had chemo every day, and radiation therapy from Monday to Friday.
I was supposed to undergo more chemo for the next six months, for five days every month. Unfortunately, due to my serious condition, it had to be postponed. That’s when Dorota and I decided to exchange the “in sickness or in health” vow. On October 21, 202, three months after my diagnosis, we got married. There was no honeymoon, though. Two days after the wedding, an ambulance took me to the ER again…

Multiple examinations confirmed a colitis, skin inflammation, and a Yersinia infection. The postponed cancer treatment started in January and finished in June. I underwent physical therapy at home and at rehabilitation camps, which helped me learn to perform basic activities…
A team of neurosurgeons and oncologists provides me with follow-up care, since glioma is a highly aggressive, unpredictable cancer with a high possibility of recurrence. I am also concerned about my hemiplegia and spasticity, which haven’t improved with rehabilitation. I’m particularly worried about my arm. I also use botulinum toxin as an addition to my physical therapy. Unfortunately, it’s expensive. In October 2001, I paid PLN 3.500 for one procedure. Another dream of mine is to go back to the rehabilitation camp, to focus on improving my left arm and hand movement.

The disease has caused much pain and fear, taking away a sense of security, independence, and physical abilities… Currently, I’m on a rehabilitation benefit, which means I’m unable to work. I’ve been trying to obtain a disability pension because I need to pay off my mortgage… I didn’t see it coming…Instead of pursuing a career, I must fight for my life. It’s devastating to not be able to provide for my family…
Until recently, we managed to handle expenses on our own, but today, I am asking for your support to fight cancer, regain my fitness, and continue treatment and rehabilitation…I wish I had achieved a calm state of mind and didn’t have to worry about running out of funds… I just want to live…”
