Fundraiser description
I wish I could watch my daughter run with her peers in the playground, grab her by her hand, walk with her, or draw beautiful pictures together. Unfortunately, that's just a dream of mine, and only you can make it come true!
Lena was born a healthy baby and received an Apgar score of 10.
Initially, she developed correctly. It was a beautiful time, and my heart was full when I watched her achieve another developmental milestone - babbling, lifting toys, or being playful. However, she started losing all the previously acquired abilities after she turned one!
When she started having trouble performing even the most basic activities, I immediately took her to a doctor, who conducted thorough diagnostic tests. After numerous consultations and examinations (including genetic testing), I finally learned the cause of all her health issues - Rett syndrome!
I was devastated! I couldn't understand why fate did it to my daughter. After all, the disease is terminal, and my daughter will suffer from it for the rest of her life. What's worse, it is a progressive disorder, which means new symptoms will appear in the future.
Pain and suffering were overwhelming. Lenka became a "silent angel"...
Although I know that being a parent is associated with a variety of challenges, no one is prepared to face such a terrible diagnosis!
Lenka has lost her independence. She requires our assistance with every single activity. She cannot walk or eat herself, hold a toy, or communicate.
Only intense rehabilitation and numerous therapies help us manage the symptoms of the disease, reduce Lena's spasticity, and improve her balance.
Unfortunately, regular physical therapy and treatment are expensive. Despite our best efforts, my husband and I cannot afford them. We need your support! We hope that rehabilitation will eventually allow Lenka to make her FIRST STEP, eat a meal by herself, and draw a beautiful heart to thank you for your donations!
