Fundraiser description
Everything started in February 2025. My husband, a former national champion in field hockey and a passionate soccer player, felt pain in his chest after one of the matches.
Since then, we’ve been fighting for his life. One day, someone said to me that I should go home and spend some time together before I say goodbye. I didn’t want to, though. I will never stop fighting for my husband’s life. Maciej is a wonderful husband and a loving father to our 2.5-year-old son Jędruś. He must live!
Since the chest pain, we travelled from one doctor’s office to another. Maciej underwent an antibiotic therapy, which eased the symptoms for a while. They came back in the fall, though. He was diagnosed with bronchitis, but the cough, asthma, and chest pain didn’t go away after treatment.
One day, I packed my husband’s hospital bag and told him to go get checked in the emergency room, where he found out the main cause of his symptoms was pulmonary embolism. More diagnostic tests were performed to determine the cause of his condition, including one that hadn’t been done before!

The results made me go weak at the knees… The full-body CT scan showed a tumor the size of a golf ball, infiltrating the lungs. Now it’s grown to the point where it's affecting the entire mediastinum…
Unfortunately, none of the doctors wants to remove the tumor due to its unfavorable location. Although my husband’s condition is worsening, we don’t know the enemy we're fighting against, so we cannot implement any available treatment!
We decided to consult the clinics abroad. Despite the doctors giving my husband low chances of survival, we must seek help! As soon as he’s discharged from the hospital, where he’s been staying since April, he will fly to Israel to undergo more thorough tests.
We hope that this time, we will learn a more detailed diagnosis and know how to handle it…
We need funds to finance another diagnostic process to confirm the diagnosis and implement effective treatment as soon as possible. The reason is that for the past few months, hospitals in Poznan and Warsaw HAVE FAILED to identify Maciej’s medical condition. This is why we chose a clinic in Israel.

We still know nothing about the tumor, although it has already existed for 4 months! All we know is that it’s growing rapidly and resembles a blood-soaked sponge or cyst wall. A suspected diagnosis is sarcoma. The tumor puts pressure on internal organs - the lungs and heart, impacting blood circulation, breathing, and, as a result, basic activities.
Maciej has been suffering from constant, neuropathic pain, especially in the back and shoulder area, and a persistent cough, which impairs daily functioning and intensifies postoperative pain.
All the tissue and fluid samples collected during the surgeries had been sent for pathomorphological analysis, but no typical cancer cells were present. However, the doctors say Maciej’s tumor is malignant… We don’t know its type, origin, or how to treat it, though.
The doctors in Poland refuse to implement treatment without a reliable diagnosis and further genetic tests. However, treatment is URGENT and NECESSARY for Maciej’s recovery and for allowing him to remain an active, loving, and supportive husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend… After all, he’s only 35 years old! There are still so many things he must teach his little son, to whom he’s a role model!
We must fight to obtain a diagnosis and effective treatment abroad since we cannot get help from the doctors here for months… Every day is worth its weight in gold…
Today, I am asking for help for the love of my life and the best dad for our son Jędruś. We refuse to accept his fate!
Kasia, Maciej’s wife, and son Jędruś
