Leukemia is killing Mia! The CAR T therapy is the last chance! Help!

We have just learned that our daughter is fighting for her life for the third
time. Along with the news of the resumption came the news that the last chance treatment remained. Non-refundable. Cosmically expensive... Our daughter's life costs 1.4 million zlotys. Despair because of the diagnosis and the cost of treatment does not give us sleep. We beg for your help. This is our only hope!

Mia is 7.5 years old. Of this, she spent 5 years in the hospital... Now we're back there again to face leukemia for the third time! But this time the cancer is stronger... The cells have mutated, attacked the central nervous system. CAR-T therapy, which gives a real chance of recovery is an astronomical cost. We ask for every possible support... Our daughter is undergoing mega chemotherapy. At the latest in a month we need to send cells to the USA. But before that, pay the entire amount for therapy...

The nightmare began in 2015. Mai's recurrent infections did not give us peace of mind - no drugs could cope with them. When bruises began to appear on Mia's legs from nowhere and she kept waking up crying, our doctor began to suspect something. Then, in May, Mia had a morphology done for the first time in her life. Together with the results, we received a referral to the hospital. Oncological...

Mia was taken to a hospital in Chorzów. There was a diagnosis: acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Critical level of hemoglobin and platelets. In addition, the liver, spleen and all lymph ligaments are enlarged by 5 cm. Immediately on the ward they had to roll blood.

From the hospital in Chorzów, Mia was taken to Cape of Hope in Wroclaw. Intensive treatment lasted until spring 2016. After eight months of therapy, Mia was able to leave the hospital and continue treatment at home. Of course, with very high caution and minimal contact with peers. That's another year. In the summer of 2017, the whole family heard the dream information from doctors: it is clean. Cancer defeated! And for Mia the greatest news in the world - that from September she can go to the nursery!

The summer of 2018 was quite special. It was Mia's first real holiday in her life. At the age of five. No drips, no chemistry, no hospital. She could finally have had a real, ordinary childhood. Unfortunately, not for long... In November, Mia began severe headaches. In the hallway we waited for the result of morphology. Then I heard that all the machines started squeaking. There was a shiver all over my body. Before the doctor came, I already knew - the cancer came back for my baby...

The fight started again. Mia endured treatment very hard. She stopped walking... Doctors decided that they would prepare Mia for a bone marrow transplant. The urgent search for a donor began. It turned out that Max, Mia's brother is 100% genetically compatible and can be a donor! Although he was very afraid, he bravely abolished the bone marrow donation. The courage was given to him by knowing that he was saving her own little sister!

Unfortunately, after a few weeks there was a disease called "graft against the host". They had to give Mia strong steroids. Problems with the liver began, which was already very burdened with years of administration of chemotherapy. Fortunately, the situation was managed. In June, we were finally able to go home.

But it was far from normal... Mia couldn't actually leave the house. Then, when it seemed that leukemia had been mastered, a pandemic came. The follow-up tests worked out well, we were hoping to have a nightmare behind us. Unfortunately...

At the end of August, suddenly, Mia stopped eating. A more accurate blood test left no illusions. There is cancer again in the blood. Third time!

Leukemia began to break through the transplanted marrow. To make matters worse, this time it also attacked the central nervous system. Each subsequent attack of leukemia is stronger than the previous one. And cancer cells are becoming more mutated and more difficult to treat.

Doctors decided to use the treatment that gives Mia the best chance. Since all previous therapies have failed, they want to give our daughter CAR-T cells. It is a state-of-the-same bioengineering therapy, available in Poland only since last year. This therapy increases Mia's chances of recovery twice! Unfortunately, it costs astronomical money... The cost is almost PLN 1.4 million. We have to pay in advance. An unimaginable amount for everyone. For us too...
