Fundraiser description

My husband Michael lived his whole life with a ticking bomb in his head and had no idea, besides some typical headaches we all get.  During a routine although stressful day at work in early October 2018, an arteriovenous-malformation (aka: AVM) an abnormal tangle of blood vessels in his brain had ruptured – a condition that he lived with for 47 years without any symptoms.  This is significantly more rare condition than an aneurism most are familiar with.

I could not believe it ... When the doctors said I had to get ready for the worst, I felt like this was some kind of a “bad” joke.  How can a man of my life, a father of three young children, that lived an active life (running, biking, often with and around the kids), supposed to end his life so suddenly.

I was always hopeful, and felt this could not be our last goodbye.  Michael survived the worst through 2 operations: one to stop the bleeding in his brain and the other, a blood-clot in his longs, however, his condition is still grim in terms of recovery.  He finally regained consciousness earlier this year after being in a coma for over 3 months. After several more months he began to keep his head-up, slightly move his arm, and is starting to squeeze given hand with evermore increasing force.  His eye tracking is improving greatly and reacts to what is happening in his surroundings, he’s being trained to work with a PC mouse and is starting recognize different objects.  Feeling in both of his legs returned with some movement in one, and there is definite progress in his ability to eat and drink independently.  At this point he still requires major rehabilitation provided by qualified specialists who will make him “come back” to us – me and our children.  Please, help me bring him back to life!
