Fundraiser description

VERY URGENT! My name is Michał, and I am writing these words because I am fighting for life - being 33 years old is too soon to die! Please, give me a chance, I want to live, and I have someone to live for - my wonderful wife, Paulina. I am fighting so we can still spend many years together. To make it happen, I need your help, though…

I was lucky, because I met my wife early, in high school. Since then, we’ve been together and have created a perfect duo. We got married in 2017, vowing to stay together “for better, for worse, in sickness and in health”… In the worst nightmare, we didn’t realise how quickly that vow would be tested…

Only 1.5 years later, in 2019, I started losing touch in the fingertips of my right hand… On January 14, I underwent a planned surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome. A quick and successful procedure didn’t help, though. I decided to see a neurologist, who referred me for a brain MRI.

I was examined on January 24, and that same day, I received a call to pick up the results. The diagnosis made me go weak at the knees - I had a 59x56x52 mm large cystic tumor located in the left lobe, the size of a tennis ball! In one moment, I felt as if my life had stopped. Fear overwhelmed me completely.

The next day, my neurologist explained that surgery was necessary. A biopsy confirmed a grade 2 astrocytoma, an aggressive brain cancer, but there were treatment options and hope.

I started proton therapy (a type of radiation therapy) and chemotherapy. Over time, I returned to work and resumed daily activities. I took care of myself, started a healthy diet, slept more, and stayed in shape. For the next couple of years, everything returned to normal. I enjoyed my life and appreciated every little bit of it. Unfortunately, that bliss didn’t last long…

During a follow-up appointment in April 2024, I received the worst news - cancer recurrence! The tumor had grown again. The disease came back unexpectedly…

In March 2025, I went to see my old doctor. This time, I already knew I had a very tough journey ahead of me. My condition worsened - I was experiencing weakness in the right side of my body, and I started having epileptic seizures. I had fears and depression.

I agreed to another surgery. It left me partially paralysed. I couldn’t walk, had to use a wheelchair, and I felt like the right side of my body didn’t belong to me anymore…

Physical therapy was the most challenging experience of my life, both physically and mentally. Only thanks to the specialists' efforts and support, two months later, I walked out of the hospital with a cane, hoping for the better.

In June, I started another round of chemotherapy. Unfortunately, cancer became more aggressive and progressed from stage 2 to stage 3.

Two months after completing the treatment, my condition worsened dramatically. Within a couple of days, I lost all the abilities I had gained throughout rehabilitation. I went to the hospital again. This time, the tumor was inoperable…

Currently, I’ve been undergoing another round of chemo. Although the tumor is stable, it doesn’t mean it will disappear completely… The treatment can only slow down its growth. This is why I have contacted a clinic in Germany that offers an innovative cancer treatment called immunotherapy, which gives me a chance to live much longer than just for a couple of months. It stimulates one’s  immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells.

I don’t want to surrender. In September, I turned only 33… There are so many things I want to see and experience… I want to be a husband to my wife. I want to live.

Unfortunately, the treatment is expensive, and I must ask you for help. Every donation and every share means a lot to me.

Thank you for your support from the bottom of my heart! My life depends on it.

Michał
