Let's save Mirek!

Mirek is 56 years old, he is a loving husband, dad and grandfather, retired firefighter of the State Fire Service and voluntary fire brigade activist. Over the years of work he extinguished many fires, now he is fighting the most dangerous one - cancer and he can't deal with it alone...

January 2010. Preventive checkup. Result, consultation, everything is ok, see you next year? Not this time... Clear cell renal carcinoma, showing no symptoms, found during routine examination. Shock, disbelief, fear. Then quick surgery, tumor removed with the left kidney, resignation from work, diet, well-balanced lifestyle. Hope the nightmare never comes back. It did...

Recurrence - a word that all people struggling with cancer are afraid of. After two years, the disease comes back with metastases. Stopping tumor growth with new generation drugs. The opponent is asleep, but stubbornly does not want to disappear. In January 2014, another progression, another treatment. Stress accompanying each checkup. There is no words to describe it...

April 2019. Drugs stop working, the tumor in the space after the removed kidney grows with an alarming speed, metastasis to the mediastinal lymph node. Fourth, most serious stage of cancer... Our hope was a treatment with the Nivolumab drug. Unfortunately, in the case of my husband, this drug is not refundable in Poland. We were able to raise money for this treatment. Several doses were given and again the test results left no illusions. Mirek’s condition got worse. We were close to collapse, but did not give up and found a new drug - Cabozantinib. Now we put all our last hopes in it.

Mirek's determination in the fight for health is an example that you should never give up as long as there is a hope. Our family is doing everything to save him, but this may not be enough, that's why I ask for donation for my husband’s treatment. The chance of successful therapy is very high, and the joy of each day spent together is even greater. Mirek, who has been helping others for so many years, now needs help himself. Let's help him put out this fire together, please!
