A dramatic accident in kindergarten Wake up, Miki!

I wasn't there for him. But he was supposed to be safe... but what happened was what every parent fears. My son had an accident! In kindergarten, during breakfast, Miki choked with grapes. Too late to call for help, long hypoxia and tragic consequences... I almost lost my child! Miki survived but fell into a coma. We fight to wake him up! I ask for your help wholeheartedly. The fight is difficult and unfortunately expensive...

Miki is a little boy from Elblag ( Poland ). He loves to run, climb trees. Until that tragic day, he was active, strong, cheerful... I believe that he only fell asleep for a moment and simply cannot wake up on his own. But he's a very ambitious boy. His stubbornness will surely help him come back to us! It only needs a little help... Please support us to use therapy that gives a good chance to wake up!

We were a normal family at this time last year. Mom, two sons and grandmother. However, on February 9, 2021, there was an accident... This dramatic event surely dreams of the nights of everyone who was at that time... Mikołaj was in kindergarten. During the second breakfast, the children were given a grape. My son choked on it... there was a sudden cardiac arrest. No one can say how long it took. We assume that at least 20 minutes Mikołaj was resuscitated. Then he went to the ICU, where for 2 weeks he fought for independent breathing, opening his eyes, the ability to eat...

As a result of hypoxia, all internal organs were damaged, including the stomach, which did not want to take up its work... We experienced dramatic moments. The doctor ordered to call the next of kin and prepare for the worst. The medical records state: "Due to the boy's critical condition, parents were allowed into the SOR room to say goodbye." Then we heard only worse things...

Because of the raging COVID-19, we were told to go home and wait for the phone. On the phone that will complete the whole thing.

It's impossible to describe what we all felt then. Until the day came when we got permission to enter the ward. Mikołaj lay unplugged from all these cables, on another bed. I heard his son's condition improved enough that he could be transferred to another ward! It was February 22. From that day on, I had to be with Mikołaj all the time.

Only the ICU provided him with 24-hour permanent medical care. Any other place requires a guardian. I had to take care of my little son, that's obvious. But my elder son stayed at home, only with his grandmother. The next drama in this story was actually to completely deprive him of his mom...

The fight for Miki's return from the world of coma began. We ended up in the Budzik Clinic which we left at our own request on September 4, because there were almost no effects. Rehabilitation in private institutions gives much more than the NHF. We've been very persistent in rehabilitation and private centers, because in brain injury, that's the key. Time matters. Undamaged brain parts still have potential! There is hope that his son's condition will improve! Intensive rehabilitation is what will help him in this. However, it must be systematic and intensive

What does the NHS offer? Regardless of the condition of the patient, the cause, the situation — everyone has the right to only 2 classes per day in only one center. Two hours, so officially for the remaining 22 hours Mikołaj is lying and looking into the ceiling... I won't let that happen! I've learned a few things, I'm trying to help him as much as I can. But that's not enough...

What do we collect?

We collect for waking Miki — that is, intensive neurorehabilitation in specialist centers in Poland for at least 2 years. Their cost is even 17 thousand for the turnus, for the basic package.

We also collect for a special pediatric part for Lokomat® Pro System for the Neurorehabilitation Center Prof. Jan Talara at the Dove Court. It's a state-of-the-art, innovative and patent-protected device for treating patients with neurological disorders — like Mikołaj has. The pediatric part will be owned by Nicholas and will be given to the Center for Neurorehabilitation, so that Nicholas will be able to use the whole Lokomat system at any time as he needs it, for free (the equipment will remain loaned in the center to help other children too).

Before the accident, I was a normal mom who worked and focused on raising two sons. My dream is to go back to that time and to an older son who also needs me and a younger brother. Please help to wake Miki. Help us get back what the tragic accident took...
