Update September 16, 2024

Pola's surgery in Tübingen, initially planned for 5 hours, ended up lasting 12, but it was a success. The majority of the tumor was removed, but due to its difficult location, it wasn’t possible to take out everything.

After the surgery, Pola is battling left-sided paralysis, which requires intensive rehabilitation and constant exercises to regain full mobility.

The next step is proton therapy in Essen, where we've secured the earliest possible appointment. This is a huge opportunity for us, but also an enormous financial challenge. Proton therapy is an extremely expensive treatment, but we can’t afford to take shortcuts—precision is key, and any mistake could be costly.

Time plays a crucial role, especially where conventional treatments don’t always offer a complete solution. It will require the collaboration of many specialists—neurologists, oncologists, physiotherapists, and radiotherapists—to create a holistic treatment plan that gives Pola the best chance of recovery. We’re facing nearly two months of intensive therapy in Essen. We wish we could say this is the final stage of treatment, that proton therapy will be the ultimate solution to defeat this enemy, but the reality is more complex.

Statistics show that this is just the beginning of a long journey. It will require the combined efforts of many specialists and various forms of treatment to eventually overcome this disease. The fight is far from over, but we believe that together with your support, we will get through this.

Update July 8, 2024:

We have some very bad news – the biopsy results have come in❗️Our worst nightmare has come true❗️

We received a blow that knocked us to our knees and momentarily took away our will to fight. The biopsy results from Krakow brought the news that it is the most malignant type of diffuse glioma.

This is a glioma that is very difficult to treat in Poland! One of the most aggressive malignant tumors...

We didn't expect it to be this bad... Panic, fear, heartbreaking sadness, and then emptiness overwhelmed us. All the emotions at once, thousands of questions in our heads. What now?

We will not give up. We are continuously discussing the results with doctors. We are waiting for consultations with specialists from UK Tübingen and other experts. We are also awaiting the second biopsy result from Warsaw.

But today, I ask for your support more than ever before... The diagnosis leaves no illusions that our fight will be much harder than we initially thought.

This also involves costs that we did not anticipate. Based on our conversations, we already know that the treatment costs will reach around one million zlotys...

Please, support us in this difficult battle, in moments that no parent wants to experience. Help us save Pola...

Fundraiser Description

Pola is our little sunshine. Always smiling, full of life and passion, this 7-year-old loves horseback riding, rollerblading, and animals, and dreams of becoming a pastry chef. She loves life – a life that fate tried to cruelly take away just a few weeks ago.

It sounds unbelievable. It's still hard for us to grasp, but Pola is sick. Terminally sick. She has been diagnosed with a brain tumor that has already grown to the size of a chicken egg. We don’t know when it appeared. We don’t know how long it’s been there. There were no worrying symptoms, no signs suggesting something was wrong.

A few days before we ended up in the hospital, severe headaches began. Initially, a bit of rest and a nap during the day helped Pola. I thought she was tired or coming down with a virus.

Unfortunately, it got worse day by day. The pain didn’t go away. It was so intense it made her cry, irritable, and unable to move around. That’s when I felt something much more serious was happening.

I took Pola for a private consultation with a neurologist. Unfortunately, we were told it’s normal for someone to have a headache from time to time. We were advised to observe her and come back in a month if the symptoms persisted.

But the next day, Pola’s condition drastically worsened – she was practically slipping through our hands. We went to the ER, hoping they could help us.

We were not mistaken. The pediatrician, after a brief consultation, immediately sent us for an MRI. And then, completely unaware of what we were dealing with, we heard the words no parent wants to hear – “We’re sorry, but we found a brain tumor in your daughter.”

The diagnosis almost knocked us off our feet – a LARGE BRAIN TUMOR, and it’s in our Pola’s head! So big that it takes up nearly half of her head in the scan.

The tests showed that the tumor was causing increased intracranial pressure. The increasing headaches and double vision were symptoms of this. The pressure was so high it posed a real threat to her life. We were told that if we had indeed waited a few more days or weeks, Pola might no longer be with us…

The last day of school brought us relief, as the decompression surgery saved her life and gave us time for further treatment steps. Our hope is a specialized center in Tübingen, where surgery and further treatment for Pola are possible. We know that every single day is of utmost importance.

Unfortunately, treatment abroad involves enormous costs that exceed our means, which is why we have to ask for your help. Pola is a wonderful girl. Her strength and determination in fighting the disease deserve full support.

No gesture is too small, and every donation contributes to the fight for her life. Please join our fundraiser and help save our daughter. Your help is invaluable!
