PLEASE HELP SAVE WOJTEK’S LIFE!
Our mommy is currently trying to help a boy that is fighting a deadly disease. Time is ticking! Therefore we’d love to ask you for a favor - please help us save the life of 15 months old Wojtek. He lives in Poland with his parents and his older brother. When he was 6 weeks old his parents’ world fell apart. The doctors diagnosed him with SMA (spinal muscular atrophy), type 1.
It is a cruel disease because it is impossible to cure in Poland, they can only win time by a series of injections. In short, this disease slowly kills Wojtek’s muscles as he cannot breathe on his own (he is on a breathing machine), he cannot normally eat (food is provided by a tube) and he cannot walk. He’s in intensive care and doctors are fighting for his life.
Unfortunately, Polish health system isn’t much developed and therefore many are seeking for help abroad. In Poland, yearly about 60 children are born with SMA. Infants aren’t checked for SMA after their birth (only a few countries do it).
However there’s HOPE since last year thanks to American doctors - a gen therapy became available, which costs over $2.1 million! It is the most expensive medicine in the world! It’s a lot of money, especially for Polish standards as people earn $600 a month on average. Wojtek is 15 months old right now and he needs to get this medicine before he’s 2 years old, otherwise it is too late!
The earlier it is given, the greater the chance for Wojtek for a better life. Please help save Wojtek from death. There’s no time to waste. Every $ helps, even $1 would help a lot ($1 = 4 Polish zloty).
We know that the world is facing a huge struggle against the horrible coronavirus. But please do not forget about this beautiful young family that are fighting for their little boy - A FIGHT for every BREATH.
